Music Monday: Feeling Heavy-Hearted

Look what we have here! Linkin Park released a new song featuring Kiiara called Heavy. I first heard the song during my usual commute to work and at first, I did not believe this was the same band 10 years ago. The tone of this song is so different from their usual stuff. This song is like a hybrid of light rock and RnB. It’s different and I like it.

I can see later down the road that this song will get tired out fairly quickly like many songs. It’s a great song, but it’s not going to last a long time on the radio such as Closer by The Chainsmokers or 24k Magic by Bruno Mars.

Overall, I think this song would fall perfectly into the “winding down” or “chillin in lowlight” category. This is not a high energy song and is definitely meant to play as the sun goes down. This song is super easy on the ears, and the background instruments are not too crazy or loud. Also, don’t expect this song to boost your spirits. It’s kind of a downer, so definitely put this on repeat when you’re feeling mellow or stressed out.

  1. What do you think about how much hate this song is getting? I personally don’t mind the new direction but fans seem to be so angry haha

    • Heyy! After looking into some of the reviews and comments being said about this song, I would understand why a lot of fans would be mad at this change, since LP was best know for their original metal and alternative sound. From a fan’s point of view, my initial thought would be that they sold out and gave into the pop/electro genre like most songs on the radio. It’s disappointing. However, I also see this as a business move. It may not be the one that LP wanted to do, but changing up the song is what got them on the radio and ranked on the charts, and in order to stay relevant, a lot of artists change things up to appeal to the popular crowd. I think this totally sucks, but I understand why they did it.
